What PDF Doctor checks
File size, page count, PDF version and encryption; page sizes and rotation; blank pages; the effective resolution (DPI) of every image; whether fonts are embedded; metadata such as the author's name; and hidden content such as JavaScript, attached files, annotations and form fields. It also notes pages without selectable text and whether the document is tagged for accessibility.
Every check runs on your device. If a check can't be completed for a particular file, the report doesn't claim it passed.
About the health score
The score out of 100 is a guide that summarises the findings — problems cost more points than warnings. It isn't an official standard; a document can score lower simply because it has metadata you might want to keep.
Good to know
- Fixes always create a new file; your original is untouched.
- “Fix everything” never compresses automatically, because compression can turn text into images.
